# GivEnergy Insight 1.4.0 — Synology DSM public beta

This public beta follows successful physical NAS installation, direct
remote-access testing and user confirmation on supported x86_64 hardware.

## Release highlights

- Adds the new read-only System explorer for inverter, PV string, battery
module, cell-voltage, meter-phase and configured schedule visibility.
- Adds Today, 3-day, 7-day, 1-month, 6-month, 1-year and all-time statistics
with a compact long-term daily archive.
- Adds plant-wide monitoring for saved parallel or AC-coupled inverters using
  their latest timestamped readings.
- Adds Health & Alerts for stale data, voltage, frequency, temperature and
  battery-cell imbalance monitoring.
- Adds Insights for estimated import cost, avoided import, export value,
forecast-aware observations and downloadable CSV reports.
- Adds PayPal and Wise support links without placing any payment code inside
  the app.
- Runs the monitoring service continuously on the Synology NAS.
- Supports local inverter discovery, manual private IP, dummy inverter and
  optional GivEnergy Cloud API connections.
- Provides Overview, Statistics, custom widgets and full-screen Smart View.
- Allows authorised remote browser access through DSM while the NAS continues
  reading the inverter locally.
- Adds a DSM-only Remote Access Setup page that saves a DDNS hostname and
external DSM port in the browser, generates the full protected app URL, and
provides copy, open and browser-test actions.
- Detects QuickConnect addresses, explains Synology's third-party package relay
restriction, and rejects public instructions for ports `8899` and `43819`.
- Requires a valid DSM session for every private inverter-data API request.
- Includes a DSM sign-in portal using Synology's authentication API with
  optional two-factor verification codes.
- Uses DSM's standard `dsmuidir` third-party application route and a protected
  package CGI bridge.
- Declares the DSM link name explicitly and opens the interface through an
`index.cgi` compatibility launcher to avoid DSM 7.1 relative/static launcher
  404 pages.
- Uses the complete `/webman/3rdparty/GivEnergyInsight/index.cgi?runtime=dsm`
launcher path, so the DSM application icon and Package Center **Open** button
open the application without typing an address.
- Removes the `web-config/nginx-static-config` resource that DSM 7.1.1 rejects
  as exclusive to Synology packages.
- Keeps the internal package service bound to NAS loopback.
- Supports DSM 7.1 build 42661 or newer on Synology `x86_64`, including
  DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 9.
- Uses Synology Node.js v18 and prefers v20 when available.
- Does not require Web Station.
- Includes complete installation, usage, compatibility, remote-access,
troubleshooting, checksum, source and licence documentation.

## Security

- Monitoring is read-only; the package contains no inverter register writes.
- Charge and discharge schedules are displayed for awareness only and cannot be
  changed from GivEnergy Insight.
- Never expose inverter port `8899` or internal service port `43819`.
- Use DSM HTTPS, DDNS/reverse proxy with a trusted certificate, or a VPN for
  remote access.
- The Cloud token and app settings stay in the restricted package data folder.

## Current limitations

- ARM Synology models are not included.
- QuickConnect relay is not supported for this third-party package.
- The package is unsigned and must be installed manually.
- Direct links use
  `/webman/3rdparty/GivEnergyInsight/index.cgi?runtime=dsm`; the older
`/givenergyinsight/` shortcut is not registered in this universal DSM 7.1+
  package.
- Compatibility across every x86_64 model, DSM update, inverter firmware,
dongle and network layout is not yet verified.
- DSM 7.3 and DSM 7.4 are expected to be compatible but require broader
  community hardware feedback.

## Included files
